Collins Education is striving to bring educational publishing up-to-date with engaging student resources and exceptional teacher support to help schools tackle new initiatives and utilise the latest technology.
Perhaps best known for Haralambos and Holborn’s Sociology Themes and Perspectives, and with numerous market-leading titles, including the number one series for Key Stage 3 Maths, New Maths Frameworking, and award-winning guided reading scheme from the top children’s authors Collins Big Cat, our resources are tailor-made for the new frameworks, programmes of study and exam board specifications.
By listening to teachers’ feedback, we have been able to tailor our offering to meet classroom needs. We have published Functional Skills resources into our Key Stage 3 and GCSE Maths series to meet the need for engaging problems based on real-life scenarios and to support the recent GCSE Maths changes. Our teaching resources, such as Collins KS3 Science APP Packs and the Key Stage 3 English series Aiming For, include extensive coverage of Assessing Pupil’s Progress.
As part of our commitment to accessibility and inclusion, we ensure key schemes include resources to support students of lower and higher ability. One such example, New Maths Frameworking Step-up Workbooks, helps students build a strong foundation in Maths. Teacher, Cass Jackson, says, “The lower set pupils love the workbooks, and they have been a great motivator.” Our Grade Booster books, part of New GCSE Maths, provide extra support for pupils to achieve those crucial C and A* grades.
Clear differentiation is a key feature of all of our resources along with a clear route for progression with assessment support, such as in the Key Stage 3 English Aiming For series, which helps students build their skills and understand what they need to do to improve their grade or level. Our unique level boosters and levelled content are also features of our newly combined Collins Revision exam guides and workbooks.
To support teachers through the often demanding technological developments, our teaching schemes for GCSE English, GCSE Maths, BTEC Science and Key Stage 3 History come with Interactive Book DVD-ROMs and VLE versions to equip them with engaging software that will enhance teaching and learning. Collins Primary Literacy software has helped literacy teachers embrace the use of multimedia texts. Collins KS3 Science features a Video Pack for the whiteboard and Homework Books with digital assignments like ‘Make a Wiki’ and ‘Create a Podcast’ bring science to life in the classroom and at home. Our latest software releases include our Collins Big Cat Shoo-fly E-resource and Collins Maths Revision Apps, enabling students to revise for GCSE Maths on the go.
