By listening to teachers’ feedback, we have been able to tailor our offering to meet classroom needs. New for 2009, is Collins KS3 Science APP Teacher Pack to help teachers tackle Assessing Pupils’ Progress, and to support Speaking and Listening and Investigations we have new additions to the Collins New Primary Maths series. We are also launching new Functional Skills resources to meet the need for engaging problems based on real-life scenarios and to support the future GCSE changes.
As part of our commitment to accessibility and inclusion, we ensure key schemes include resources to support students of lower ability. One such example, New Maths Frameworking Step-up Workbooks, helps students build a strong foundation in Maths. Teacher, Cass Jackson, says, “The lower set pupils love the workbooks, and they have been a great motivator.”
Clear differentiation, a key feature of all of our resources, and a clear route for progression with assessment support, such as in the new English Aiming For Level… series, helps students build their skills and understand what they need to do to improve their grade or level. Our unique level boosters and levelled content are also features of our newly combined Collins Revision exam guides and workbooks.
To support teachers through the often demanding technological developments, Collins Primary Literacy software has helped literacy teachers embrace the use of multimedia texts and Collins Advanced Science and Collins AS & A2 Science for AQA are enriched by accompanying free web resources including exam practice, teacher notes and How Science Works assignments. Collins KS3 Science now features a new Video Pack for the whiteboard and Homework Books with digital assignments like ‘Make a Wiki’ and ‘Create a Podcast’ bring science to life in the classroom and at home.
