Collins Education - Paid for downloads

Paid-for downloads (including Podcasts)

What are they?
Paid-for download products are sold as files, rather than hard copies of books or CD-Roms.  When you buy a Paid-for download product you do not get sent a physical product; instead you download a file from the website.  They are non-refundable and can be bought firm order only.

How does it work?
Using the website checkout you buy the Paid-for download product the same as you would any book or CD-Rom.  As soon as you have placed a successful order a link to download the file will appear in your Account pages of the website.  You will be shown how to get to this page from the order summary page (last page of checkout).  You can then save the file to your own computer or network and use it from there, on your own software.

How do I know if a product is a download?
On the product page there will be a logo over the product cover telling you what the file type is.  There is also information to tell you the file type and the size of the file.  The title should contain the word 'download' and there will be a box on the left explaining that it is a Paid-for download.

How do I know if I can use the file?
Please carefully read the technical requirements and product description for each paid-for download before buying.  This will tell you what the file type is, the size of the file and any extra software you may need to be able to use it.  Before you buy please check that you have the correct software required to use the file and enough space to save the file to your computer or network.

Can I evaluate paid-for downloads or return them?
No.  Paid-for downloads are non-refundable.
They can only be purchased as a firm order and are not available on evaluation.  See full terms and conditions.

Can I buy a Paid-for Download product offline; for example by phone or post?
No.  We need to provide you the link to the file within the account pages of the website so we need you to have registered on the website and bought the paid-for download through the site to get this link.

I can't open my downloadable file - when I click on the link the page just refreshes.
Make sure you have enabled pop-ups in your internet browser.  When you click on the file name link you may get a message at the top or bottom of your screen about pop-ups being blocked (this may be hidden or included in the grey toolbar towards the top of your screen).  You need to click on the message and unblock pop ups to be able to download the file.

I can’t open my PDF download or the file looks corrupted.
Adobe Reader can sometimes create problems if you try to read a document that has been created in a different version than the one on your computer. Make sure that you
install the latest version of Adobe Reader and then try to access your download. You should now be able to see your full PDF document.

Why can't the file just be emailed to me?
Sometimes the files are very large so would be too big to email.  This is why we provide the secure link for you to download the file yourself.  It also means you can get the file instantly, as soon as you buy, and don't have to wait for an email to come through.
